Application onboarding checklist
Here is a checklist to onboard any new application / functionality / Service into production.
This checklist must be fulfilled before go live.
1. What is the purpose / benefit of X service ? A general overview with end to end flow diagram of all application components and any third parties involved E.g. customers , vendors etc
2. Which servers are involved? Do Prod Ops / Application Support team have access to those? Are these servers load balanced? Is there a network diagram?
3. If Applicable, Provide detailed steps to failover services from production to DR environment
4. Which DB jobs / scheduled OS level jobs Prod Ops / Application Support team should think about in connection to this new service/application/functionality ?
5. What are various configs at infrastructure level ? e.g. Host file entries
6. What are various configs at Application & DB level ? e.g. Host file entries
7. Which DB tables are involved in processing of this service and common queries for these tables
8. What are common issues Prod Ops team may face while supporting this service and how to troubleshoot these
9. If applicable, How to onboard a new customer/MGA etc. to this service, a full documented process showing role & steps of each team
10. How are we monitoring health of this new service & who responds to these alerts and how ?
11. If Applicable, How to decommission an existing customer/MGA etc. from this new service, a fully documented process showing role & steps of each team
12. Detailed steps by step documentation of release steps for this new service
13. What checks can be done by Ops and business teams before sending issues to Prod Ops?
14. If Applicable, Do we need to define a new process for Operations team to support and use this new service on daily basis? If yes then get it done and request Ops team lead to sign off the service go live.
15. An Approved Change Request in Accelerant Fresh Service is mandatory for Production go live.
16. If Applicable an Application Profile needs to be created and signed off by Production Operations team before go live
17. Access Requests needs to be implemented in Fresh Service for the new service to be onboarded.
