Connecting to your VDI/WVD/CPC
Terms to know:
- VDI – Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
- WVD – Windows Virtual Desktop

^^^ For the most part, these terms are all interchangeable and all refer to the same type of technology.
If you’ve been given access to a virtual desktop, you’ll be able to connect to it from almost anywhere and almost any device, but you need to use the proper application.
Everything covered below can be found in this Microsoft article: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-services/clients/remote-desktop-clients
Note: This is not the commonly used blue icon, but a red icon.

- Depending on which type of computer you’re coming from, use the links found in the above article to reach the download for the version of Remote Desktop that you need.
- Once you’ve downloaded/installed the application, run it like you would anything else.
- You’ll see a blank page with a few buttons on top. Press Add then Workspaces
- In the Subscribe to Workspaces section, enter your email address. And press Subscribe.
- IF it errors out and cannot find any workspaces, enter this URL instead. https://rdweb.wvd.microsoft.com/ and press Subscribe.
- In either case, you’ll be prompted to login. Use your normal email/password to login.
- Once completed, and if you’ve been given permissions to a VDI/WVD/CPC, you’ll then see a list of available machines you can connect to.
- Click on the available machine and it will open a new desktop for you to work in.
